It may be the most collected muscle car in history. The Ford Mustang captured the hearts and minds of the American public in 1964 with its stunning introduction. Originally designed to be an economy car of sorts, targeted to young females, the Ford Mustang quickly became the muscle car of choice for many teens and young men.

As one of the industry's longest-lasting models, many people collect the Ford Mustang. With the car changing over the years, but often remaining true to its heritage, owners all have their favorite era of Mustangs. For the Mustang owner, or for someone considering the purchase and restoration of this classic muscle car, Peter and Nilda Sessler have put together a definitive guide on the subject.

From the first Mustang in 1964, which some consider a 1964-1/2 model year, others a 1965 model, to the latest 2006 model, this book provides a buyer's guide for each and every year. Chapters on restoration are also included, covering engine, drivetrain, bodywork, interior, and detailing.

Topics addressed include: Buyers Guide • Restoration Guide • Parts Sources Performance Engines • Special Cars

Includes a full-color CD-ROM with hundreds of photos from the author's personal collection of Ford Mustang photos!

5A Guide to Models With Comments on Desirability/Value  Jun 23, 2006
The Mustang represents the difference between cars designed by financial types from those designed by car types. Just before the Mustang the need for smaller cars became clear. McNamara was in charge of Ford and his answer was the Falcon. I don't know of many people who think the Falcon was the high point of Ford's history. Lee Iacocca took the basic Falcon, put new skins on it and the Mustang was born. We are now in another period where the financial types are in charge, and the blah cars and the red ink coming out of Detroit show it. ==It's been forty years since the Mustang came out in 1964, and even the original ones still look great. In fact you might argue that the originals were the best of any of the Mustangs that followed. ==This book spends over half of its pages describing the various Mustangs that were built. The back of the book talks about restoration. But don't expect details on how to restore a car. This part covers things like maintenance and where to get parts. It is fairly general in nature. After all, things like rebuilding an engine would take a whole book by itself.
